Giopato & Coombes

Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes are the Italian-British duo behind this Treviso-based studio. After training under design icons Patricia Urquiola and George Sowden, they joined forces in 2006, eventually specializing in high-end lighting that bridges the gap between traditional Venetian craftsmanship and industrial innovation.

Their process, which they call "Supernatural Daydreaming," focuses on light as a tool to trigger emotions. Each piece is handmade to order, often combining hand-blown Murano glass with precision-engineered brass and LED technology. By avoiding mass production, they maintain a boutique approach where every fixture is treated as a sculptural object.

They are best known for the Bolle collection, which mimics the lightness of soap bubbles, and the Gioielli series, which draws inspiration from high-end jewelry. Their newest 2026 work, Scarabei, explores organic textures through sand-cast aluminum. Today, they operate permanent ateliers in Milan and Paris, focusing on bespoke installations for architects and private collectors worldwide.
