Jan Armgardt
Jan Armgardt was born in 1947 in Celle, Germany. He began his career with a carpentry apprenticeship before studying interior design and completing various internships in upholstery, metalworking, and basketry. In 1967, he founded small furniture companies like beedesign and Workshopdesign to market his early work.

In 1974, he established the Jan Armgardt Design-Furniture and Conceptual Design Agency in Schondorf am Ammersee. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major brands such as Leolux, Wittmann, and De Padova, earning over 40 international awards, including the Red Dot Award. His most famous designs include the versatile Tattomi (1985), the Jolly chair, and the whimsical Papageno armchair.

Beyond product design, Armgardt is a pioneer in ecological furniture, often using paper, cardboard, and recycled materials. He is a guest professor at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences and acts as a consultant for the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, focusing on sustainable rattan and wicker production.
