Guido Rosati is an Italian industrial designer known for his minimalist and multifunctional approach to lighting and furniture. Originally from the Abruzzo region, he moved to Rome in 1970 after completing studies in Architecture and Scenic Design.
Rosati's work is characterized by the belief that aesthetics should not exist independently of functionality. Throughout his career, he has focused on two primary areas: lighting design and multifunctional furniture. He gained early recognition for innovative lamp designs for prestigious brands like FontanaArte, VeArt, I Tre, and Luxo. In furniture, he specialized in "transformable" pieces, particularly sofas that convert into beds or adjust into multiple positions using clever mechanical components.
He has collaborated with many leading Italian design houses, including Flexform, Ditre Italia, Giovannetti, Poltronova, Arflex, and Saba Italia for seating, as well as Blu Bleu for hydromassage bathtubs.
His work has earned several awards, including the Premio Design Italiano at CASAIDEA in 1983 for his Sym-bios sofa-bed. Currently, Rosati's studio in Rome continues to research the relationship between product development and the global market.
