Marcel Wanders

Marcel Wanders is a world-renowned Dutch designer, born in 1963, who is famous for bringing a sense of romance, fantasy, and human touch back to the often cold world of industrial design. 

After graduating from the Institute of the Arts Arnhem in 1988, he rose to international fame in 1996 with his iconic Knotted Chair, which brilliantly combined high-tech materials with traditional macramé techniques.In 2001, he co-founded Moooi, a design label that became a global powerhouse for eccentric and avant-garde furniture. 

Beyond product design, Wanders is celebrated for his "total-concept" interior architecture, seen in whimsical luxury hotels like the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht and the Mondrian South Beach. His work, characterized by intricate patterns, oversized proportions, and a sense of theatricality, is held in the permanent collections of major museums like MoMA and the V&A. 

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with elite brands such as Louis Vuitton, Alessi, and KLM, consistently pushing the boundaries of contemporary aesthetics by blending historical motifs with futuristic technology.
