Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio, born in Meda in 1950, stands as a pillar of contemporary Italian design and architecture. After graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1975, he quickly established himself as a versatile creator capable of moving seamlessly between the precision of industrial product design and the complexity of large-scale architectural projects.
His philosophy often centers on a "quiet elegance," where functionality and longevity are prioritized over passing trends, ensuring that his work remains relevant across decades.

Throughout his prolific career, Citterio has shaped the visual identity of several premier global brands. His long-standing partnership with B&B Italia resulted in revolutionary pieces like the Sity sofa, which earned him his first Compasso d'Oro in 1987. He has also made significant contributions to Vitra, Flexform, Flos, and Kartell, consistently elevating everyday objects through refined materials and sophisticated engineering.
Beyond furniture, his collaboration with Technogym reimagined fitness equipment as high-end interior decor, bridging the gap between wellness and luxury design.

In the realm of architecture, Citterio co-founded ACPV ARCHITECTS with Patricia Viel in 2000. The firm’s international portfolio is vast, encompassing luxury hotels for Bulgari in cities like Milan, London, and Bali, as well as corporate headquarters, residential towers, and urban redevelopment projects. His architectural work is noted for its rigorous attention to detail and a seamless integration with the surrounding environment. Recognized for his global impact, he was named an Honorary Royal Designer for Industry in London and continues to influence the next generation through both his practice and his past tenure as a professor at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture.
