Uto Balmoral is a virtual designer, a project launched in 2011 that treats the designer's persona itself as a product. By keeping his true identity secret, the creator focuses entirely on a philosophy that prioritizes ideas over traditional design. 

His work is characterized by irony and a desire to provoke a smile, often reinterpreting classical or mundane objects with a modern, playful twist. 

He is perhaps most recognized for his collaboration with Seletti, specifically for lighting collections like Wonder and Grace, which feature classical resin busts blowing bubblegum. He has also reimagined garden gnomes as contemporary lamps in the Gummy series. 

Beyond lighting, his portfolio includes sophisticated furniture for brands like Tonelli Design, Mogg, and Sturm Milano, where he continues to explore the intersection of functional art and social commentary.
